Two months after the most important fair in the motorcycle world, we take stock of the companies that will be present
There are less than two months to Eicma 2021 (which this year takes place from 23 to 28 November and has changed its name to the International Two-wheeler Exhibition). This is, after the forced stop of 2020, the edition of the relaunch for a sector in great health, at least in Italy (as evidenced by the latest market data ). But it will inevitably be a slightly minor demonstration, primarily due to the restrictions imposed by health protocols. Less than 60 days before the event, it’s time to count: who will be there and who has decided to desert the fair?
those present at eicma 2021
With all due respect to those who gave the world of automotive fairs now dead and buried, the response of the manufacturers to Eicma 2021 was very positive. The ok from the Japanese arrived immediately (Honda and Yamaha, and subsequently Suzuki and Kawasaki), followed by that of Fantic Motor, Triumph, Royal Enfield, Benelli QJ, Kymco, Sym and the Piaggio group. In short, most of the major motorcycle and scooter manufacturers will be in the game.
To make a different choice, however, were the German-speaking companies, BMW above all. For years, the Bavarian house has adopted a marketing strategy that avoids traditional trade fairs, even for the car world, to focus on digital launches (or with different formats) of its products. A philosophy that, in turn, also touched his motorcycle department. The absence of BMW has been known for months, as is that of Ktm and Husqvarna (who have adopted a line similar to that of the Munich-based company).
Ducati remains the last big name not to have announced its presence at Eicma. Fans obviously hope to find the stand of the Borgo Panigale company. At the moment it seems that Ducati has adopted a policy of moving away from traditional fairs; in this regard, it also announced that the launches of the new 2022 models will take place through the “web series” format.
