Data for Friday 24 September. Rezza: Fortunately, the situation is going well. The positive rate 1.4% (yesterday 1.3%) with 277,508 swabs. Admissions: -97. Intensive care: -16
I am 3,797 new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 4,061, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4.653.696 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 52* (yesterday there were 63), for a total of 130,603 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4.419.537 e 5.265 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (5,466 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 103.556, equal to -1.527 compared to yesterday (-1.476 the day before).
The swabs and the scenario
I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 277.508, or 44,046 less than yesterday when there were 321,554. While the the positive rate is almost stable at 1.4
% (the approximation of 1.368%); yesterday it was 1.3% and Wednesday it was 1.3% as well. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.
Less infections in 24 hours than yesterday. As usual, the fluctuating curve begins to decline before the weekend due to fewer swabs (yesterday the weekly peak was 4,061 new infections). The trend continues to slow down and is shown by the comparison with last Friday (17 September) – the same day of the week – when they were recorded. +4.552 almost with a positive rate of 1.6%: in fact today there are fewer new people infected, with a lower case-to-test ratio (1.4% versus 1.6%).
Fortunately, this week all the indicators tell us that the situation is going well, thanks to vaccines and reopening with common sense, comments Gianni Rezza, director of prevention of the Ministry of Health. According to the latest monitoring of the Higher Institute of Health, the Rt index is reduced to 0.82 from 0.85 and the incidence drops to 45 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants compared to 54 last week. The very good figure is the drop in incidence below 50 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants – Rezza points out -. We will see the school and restart effect in 2-3 weeks. As for the age of the cases, in the younger age groups the contagion is decreasing except for the 0-9 year age group which remains stable, explains ISS president Silvio Brusaferro.
Three regions have more than 400 newly infected: the Lombardy which communicates +488 cases thanks to over 53,000 swabs – the highest number of regional tests of the day – with a positive rate of 0.9%, the Sicily which marks +464 cases with a 3.4% rate calculated on 13,504 swabs and the Veneto which directs +428 cases with a rate of 1% (out of 43 thousand swabs).
There are 52 victims in the bulletin, eleven fewer than yesterday. In the count there are also previous deaths in Sicily that out of 13 people who lost their lives, three died in the last 24 hours, five died on 22 September and five earlier as indicated in the note *. Lombardy to have paid the highest price in terms of deaths: today with 5 new deaths the region exceeds 34 thousand victims since the beginning of the emergency. Six regions with zero bereavement, to which are added the provinces of Trento and Bolzano: these are Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Marche, Sardinia, Basilicata, Molise and Valle d’Aosta.
The health system
They are still decreasing in the medical area and in resuscitation. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m -97 (yesterday -146), for a total of 3,553 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are -16 – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered ICU – (yesterday -8), bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 489, with 35 admissions to resuscitation (yesterday 30).
The vaccine doses administered are over 83,3 millions. Citizens who have received the second dose are over 41,6 millions (77,08% of the population over 12). 44.6 million people (82.62% of vaccinables) received a single dose, while 26,906 received the additional dose. Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data of the anti Covid-19 vaccines report on the government website.
