Rome (NEV) 24 September 2021 – The Federation of Evangelical Women in Italy (FDEI) has been invited to participate in the III International Ecumenical Vigil for Peace in Colombia. The FDEI president, pastor Gabriela Lio, brought a message of solidarity and peace. Ecumenical organizations organized the vigil in support of Colombia on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, last 21 September. The theme of this edition was: “Territories in conflict and international solidarity”.

The vigils, we read on the website of the Ecumenical Communication Agency (ALC), are “spaces convened by various ecumenical organizations working for peace in Colombia. They promote various initiatives, starting with the first national strike, with actions that continue today ”. Representatives of Colombian and Latin American religious organizations from Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and overseas brought their testimony at the vigil. Among other things, there was talk of experiences of religious communities, of resistance, resilience, of security in areas of conflict.

Here is an excerpt from Pastor Lio’s message: “These are the words of peace of the Italian evangelical women for Colombia. The promised land is a land of toil and blessing. Where you wear out, but you don’t get tired in vain. The promotion of peace and collaboration in your nation gives strength, joy and also the courage to exercise hope. And to continue believing that a child will reach old age, to plant tree seeds even knowing that we may not see their leaves ”.

Here is the full video of the initiative. From about 44 minutes, the intervention of Gabriela Lio (FDEI).
