Libya also enters the network of women for the first time Unesco Biosphere Reserves. A baptism shared with Lesotho and Saudi Arabia which until now had remained dry, excluded from the list which today has 727 protected areas in 131 countries for a total area that covers almost 6% of our planet.

Not to be confused with national parks, these reserves are a model of coexistence with agricultural activities or with nearby urban centers and are more like open-air laboratories where solutions for sustainable development can be experimented.
