(ANSA) – MADRID, 21 SEP – The former Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya has been entered in the register of suspects in the investigation opened by a judge on the circumstances of the arrival and temporary reception in the Iberian country of Brahim Ghali, leader of the independence movement of the Western Sahara Polisario Front. This was reported by the Iberian media, which stated that González Laya (minister between January 2020 and July 2021) will have to appear in front of the magistrate to answer his questions.
Ghali arrived in Spain on a reserved flight from Algeria last April, with the permission of the Iberian authorities. He was immediately admitted to a hospital in the city of Logroño for Covid, remaining there for over a month, before returning to Algeria. Its presence in Spain has caused strong diplomatic tensions between Spain and Morocco, which claims sovereignty over Western Sahara. (HANDLE).
