Amazon has blocked more than 600 Chinese brands for violating review policies, which prohibit creating an incentive system in exchange for positive reviews. The company confirmed the news to The Verge and the South China Morning Post. The products were marketed on the eCommerce platform by over 3,000 sellers and until this year they had managed to circumvent a rule, the one that prohibits “bought” reviews established in 2016.
“Users rely on the accuracy of product reviews to make informed purchases and we have strict rules that apply to both reviewers and sellers that prohibit abusing the options we offer to our community. We suspend, ban and take action. legal against those who do not respect these policies, wherever they are in the world, “explained Amazon.
Between May and June, the Seattle-based company had already removed many products from Aukey, Mpow, RavPower, Vava and TaoTronic, but the fight had become more incisive after the publication of an article in the Wall Street Journal by a journalist: she had found, at the inside the packaging of a charger manufactured by a company that was later removed, a $ 35 gift card that could be used in exchange for a review.
