Everything will be anticipated by a three-day event entirely dedicated to children and their ideas, the “Youth4climate: Driving Ambition”, Which from 28 September until the morning of 30, will mark the beginning of the official conference, calling for about 400 representatives from 195 countries, aged between 18 and 29. For them, the program includes hours of brainstorming and plenary meetings with the aim of putting the result of the negotiation on paper and presenting a complete document to the premier and activists who will discuss before the Scottish event.
Two years after the Cop25 in Madrid and five years after the Paris climate agreements, the Cop of Glagow will be held from 1 to 12 November and it will play a decisive role in showing the change of pace needed by the environment, especially in terms of containing CO2 emissions. The Milan Pre-Cop will provide a select group of countries with an informal context to discuss and exchange views on the political aspects that will be addressed during the negotiations in Scotland. 51 states will participate in the preparatory conference, representatives of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention Against Climate Change (UNCCC), the presidents of the UN subsidiary bodies and a number of stakeholders who play a key role in the fight in the transition to sustainable development. During the months preceding the Milan conference, even in the midst of a pandemic and through a screen, the students had time to get to know each other virtually and prepare themselves on the topics that will be discussed during the discussion sessions. On the Youth4Climate Youtube channel it is possible to review the “Live series”: nine directed on themes such as sustainable recovery, green jobs and energy transition carried out by the young leaders of the future from all over the world and with the contributions of the representatives of the institutions who will accompany them along the way. We need a global effort and it is precisely with this objective that we are organizing the Y4C: so that the moment in which the young people pass from the protest to the proposal.
