French Health Minister Olivier Véran told the broadcaster RTL that about 3 thousand health workers have been suspended without pay because they have not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The suspension was notified on Wednesday 15 September, the day the French government had set as a deadline for all healthcare workers to be vaccinated. Véran specified that most of the suspensions are temporary, given that many of the people affected by the measure have finally decided to get vaccinated. He also said the suspensions affected mostly nurses, and only a few doctors. According to the French health authorities, less than 12% of public hospital staff are not vaccinated, and about 6% of private sector staff.
