The decree on the obligation of the Green pass for access to various activities, including restaurants, shows and sports competitions, exhibitions, swimming pools and gyms, also passes to the Senate. The trust placed by the government has gained 189 votes in favor, 32 opposites and 2 abstained. The extension of the national state of emergency until 31 December 2021 has also been approved. Unlike what happened in the Chamber, the government has placed its trust in the decree, especially in light of the smaller numbers for the majority who could call the provision into question. The protests mounted when the confidence was announced, however, were not followed by real threats to the stability of the majority. As was the case in the House, for example, when the League voted on some amendments by the Brothers of Italy. The leader of the League, Massimiliano Romeo, has indeed launched an invitation to tone down the discussion on the use of the Green pass: “In all parties there are different sensibilities – he said -. The League actually voted in favor in the Council of Ministers and in the Chamber. And today he will vote confidence in the decree. However, it is right and correct to give space in Parliament to different positions. It is better to discuss them here in the Chamber than in the squares, avoiding that someone can exploit them ». The only attempt to obstruct the decree came from Lello Ciampolillo, former M5s today in the Mixed group, who presented a preliminary question for not passing the decree to the votes. However, the attempt was rejected by the courtroom.
