A strong wave of bad weather which, in many municipalities, will cause the closure of schools. In the next few hours we will witness a gradual deterioration, given by a humid and unstable flow in the south-western part of the central-northern regions. The Department of the Civil protection issued aorange weather alert per Liguria of Levante, high Tuscany and Apennine areas ofEmilia Romagna. Scattered precipitation will extend over the course of the morning to Lombardy and Veneto. The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, local hailstorms, frequent electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.
Yellow alert also in Milan, where thunderstorms are expected starting from 9 am tomorrow, 16 September, and possible hydrogeological risks that could affect the Seveso and Lambro rivers starting at 12 noon. the Municipality of Milan has activated the civil protection, local police and Mm teams for monitoring and planning any interventions.
Bad weather, schools closed in several municipalities
Schools closed in 13 municipalities of Lunigiana tomorrow, Thursday 16 September, due to the weather alert. The mayors of the Municipalities of Aulla, Bagnone, Casola in Lunigiana, Comano, Filattiera, Fivizzano, Fosdinovo, Licciana Nardi, Mulazzo, Podenzana, Tresana, Villafranca in Lunigiana and Zeri (all mountain municipalities of Lunigiana, in the province of Massa Carrara) have signed the order to close schools of all levels “given the orange code weather alert issued by the regional civil protection system”.
After just one day of school, the mayors of Lunigiana have decided to issue the ordinances to close all schools for the whole day; the alert was issued from seven in the morning to midnight on Thursday 16 September. The Municipality of Viareggio (Lucca) with a note informed that a yellow alert is expected for strong thunderstorms and consequent hydrogeological hydraulic network danger, from midnight to 7 on Thursday. Throughout the day tomorrow, from 7 to midnight, the alert rises to orange. And for this reason the pine forests and the Viale dei Tigli, which crosses the Levante pine forest, will be closed as a precaution, connecting Viareggio with the hamlet of Torre del Lago.
Carrara has been added to the 13 municipalities of Lunigiana. Even the mayor Francesco De Pasquale has in fact decided to close the schools of all levels in the municipal area. “Taking note of the orange weather alert issued by the Functional Center of the Tuscany region, for tomorrow Thursday 16 September, the mayor Francesco De Pasquale has ordered the suspension of teaching activities in all schools of all levels in the area of the municipality of Carrara ”, reads the ordinance.
