ROME – There is also Tuscany, with its smaller islands, in the Plan of the Ministry of Economic Development for the realization of infrastructural interventions related to the development of the ultra-broadband.

The decree, signed by the minister Giancarlo Giorgetti and published in the Official Gazette, provides for interventions in line with the objectives of the Italian strategy for ultra-broadband and PNRR, which aim to promote the spread of connectivity in the smaller islands of the regions of Lazio, Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia and Tuscany.

The Minor Islands Plan, explains a note, is financed with a total amount of resources equal to 60.5 million euros, drawn from European funds. Interventions are planned to equip the smaller islands with an optical backhaul enabling the development of ultra-broadband, increasing the coverage of mobile radio networks and also ensuring the evolution towards 5G services.
