Epic Games asked theappeal for the sentence on Friday of the lawsuit that sees her pledged against Apple. The goal is to have the case reviewed by another judge or jury to try to overturn the sentence, which saw most of the charges demolished due to a lack of focus on the point.
The text of the appeal request is not very clear, as legible from the official document filed in court, but it is easy to imagine that Sweeney’s company was burned by the conclusions regarding the accusation against Apple of having created a monopoly in fact, forcing developers to use only its payment method on the App Store.
On September 10, 2021, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled that Epic Games should pay Apple damages for violating the rules of its system. in-game purchases, while confirming that from now on Apple will have to allow the inclusion of payments with third-party services. The ruling also stated that Epic Games has failed to prove Apple’s monopoly, despite multiple signs proving its existence. Probably on appeal, if accepted, Epic Games will review its attack strategies trying to hit deeper.
