Sicily remains in the yellow zone for another 15 days. This is foreseen by the new ordinance ‘Urgent measures to contain and manage the health emergency in the Sicily Region’ of the Ministry of Health, dated 10 September and published on the website of the same ministry.

“In order to counter and contain the spread of the SARS-Cov-2 virus, for the Region of Sicily – we read – the order of the Minister of Health of 27 August 2021 is renewed for a further fifteen days, without prejudice to the possibility of a new classification “. The ordinance of 27 August 2021 placed Sicily in the yellow zone.

In the week just ended, however, the slowdown in the spread of Covid-19 in Sicily is strengthening, already detected last week: new positives, hospitalized patients (ordinary and in intensive care) and new entries in intensive care have decreased. After nine weeks, the number of current positives also decreased again. The Statistical Office of the Municipality of Palermo points out.

In the week just ended, the new positives in Sicily amounted to 6,252, 27.3% less than the previous week, when a decrease of 7.6% had already been recorded. The ratio between positive swabs and swabs performed also decreased, from 6.6% to 4.8%. The number of current positives is 26190, 2272 fewer than the previous week.
