“Tomorrow (today ed) in Milan over 700 schools owned by the Municipality will start up again at full capacity, and unfortunately about 60% of these have important structural defects, a consequence of years of lack of attention by the municipal administration, which is responsible for ordinary and extraordinary maintenance activities. In the last year, as we know, face-to-face teaching has undergone forced stops, and it is in those moments that the Municipality should have intervened, also because the outgoing mayor had commissioner powers in the field of school construction for a good part of 2020, a matter that will be a priority if the Milanese decide that it will be me and the center-right coalition to lead the city.
We have already prepared a five-year plan of 350 million to redevelop the schools owned by the Municipality (among the key points are energy efficiency and seismic safety) and this will also be possible thanks to the funds made available by the Recovery Fund. In this regard, in order to invest the money quickly and effectively, it will be necessary to strengthen the municipal staff dedicated to the planning and management of school building works. In this 350 million euro project, one of the central points will be the removal of architectural barriers, because it is unacceptable that so many students and teachers are still penalized ». So Dr. Luca Bernardo, candidate for mayor of the Center-right in Milan.
