A 28-year-old girl died in the department dedicated to pregnant and Coronavirus positive women at the Policlinico di Napoli. The unvaccinated woman was hospitalized on August 29 for complications related to Covid-19. Doctors decided to deliver her son by caesarean at 35 weeks. The baby is fine, but for the girl, originally from Santa Maria Capua Vetere, there was nothing to do. As he explained toAnsa the director of the ward of the Polyclinic Giuseppe Bifulco, «in the days following the birth there was a worsening of the respiratory picture and we had had to transfer her to intensive care for about ten days. But today he didn’t make it ». There are still two girls in the intensive care unit, and arrivals, explains Bifulco, are constant. The 29-year-old is the second death in the ward, which is now full. “Many pregnant women in the area are infected even if asymptomatic,” said Bifulco. “We can only remind all pregnant women to get the vaccine after the third month, so as to avoid risks and a premature cesarean”.
