MANTUA. The Seniores of Forza Italia also take the field in Mantua with their proposal to establish the “Guarantor of the rights of the elderly”. After an analysis of the composition of the Mantuan social fabric, it emerged that 25% of the population of Mantua is made up of over 65, making it the oldest city in Lombardy. “In light of the data that the Municipality has provided us, we think that the figure of the guarantor of the third age is an excellent initiative for the Mantuan community – explains the municipal councilor Pierluigi Baschieri – The figure of the guarantor will be a super partes figure, free from political constraints , which will have to take care of stimulating the administration to take care of the elderly. We could have asked for a department but we don’t want it to be an economic commitment ».
The guarantor of the third age is not yet a regulated position so Forza Italia, if the Municipality were to approve it, will have to start a process to draw up a regulation that frames the figure.
“In line with some government measures, Forza Italia wants to see the rights of the elderly protected – explains Senator Enrico Pinetta – We believe that the over 65s are a great resource and, especially in Mantua, they occupy a large segment of the population. They should not be marginalized, but on the contrary involved and protected, this is what the guarantor is for. Who will have the task of safeguarding the elderly and ensuring that their rights are respected and their needs met. Our proposal has already taken hold in many Italian cities, for example Genoa and Rome. A society also evaluates itself by how it treats its elderly ”. “For Forza Italia the individual is central – says the deputy Anna Lisa Baroni – this is because we are the only Catholic and liberal reform party in Italy. Seniores are fundamental for us and have always been very active, in fact, we believe that the guarantor of the rights of the elderly is essential, we are the first party in Italy to propose a figure with these functions ».
