Milan, 10 Sept. (askanews) – Milan is preparing to welcome the 35th edition of the MiX International Festival of Lgbtq + Cinema and queer culture. Over 60 titles competing, including national and international premieres in the name of this year’s slogan “Love Matters”, love counts. The opening film is “Valentina”, the story of a transgender teenager. Debora Guma, director of the Festival together with Paolo Armelli and Andrea Ferrari.
“The festival has become the most important LGBTQ + event in Italy, our community and society has changed not as much as we would have liked, but I believe there has been an osmosis between the contents of the festival and changes in society, we believe it still needs to grow and is a valid element not only for the LGBT + community but for the whole of Italian society “.
Among the events, the delivery to Liliana Segre of the “More Love” award for her commitment against hatred and violence. Many guests, from Veronica Pivetti and Francesca Michielin to Alessandro Zan, as well as concerts, meetings with directors and actors and cultural events. The festival will be staged from 16 to 19 September in a hybrid version, in presence at the Teatro Strehler and Teatro studio Melato and in the courtyard of Palazzo Reale, and also online.
