Qualifying for the 2021 Italian GP took place today, stage of the F1 World Championship that is staged on the Monza circuit. It was therefore an atypical Friday, as it had been for the British GP. This turn was in fact used to determine the starting grid of the sprint race scheduled for tomorrow, or one fast race of 100 km whose order of arrival will award points (3 to the first, 2 to the second, 1 to the third) e will define the actual Grand Prix line-up scheduled for Sunday afternoon on the canonical distance of 300 km.

Surprisingly, however, it was Valtteri Bottas who signed the best time and earned the start at the pole for tomorrow’s race. The Finn of Mercedes will have to start from the last position in Sunday’s race because he changed the engine, but tomorrow he can easily start from the “pole position” (in quotes because it is not formally called that, that will go to the winner of tomorrow’s race). Behind him Lewis Hamilton with the other Mercedes and Max Verstappen with Red Bull. The second row is completed by Lando Norris with McLaren, while in the third row there are Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) and Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri).

The two Ferraris have to settle for the fourth row on an unfavorable path on the map: Carlos Sainz seventh just ahead of team mate Charles Leclerc. Antonio Giovinazzi is splendid tenth with Alfa Romeo, behind the second Red Bull driven by Sergio Perez. Below is the starting grid of the sprint race of the Italian GP 2021, stage of the F1 World Championship that takes place on the Monza circuit, and the result with the qualifying standings on Friday.
