Lio Nastasi, an esteemed municipal employee, skeptical about the use of the vaccine, contracted Covid and luckily passed it after being hospitalized in Marsala and so much suffering. Today he decided to tell his experience with the sole purpose of inviting everyone to get vaccinated.
Below is the letter to the Director that he sent to the editorial office.
“Good evening Avv. Indelicato, I am writing these lines because, for the good of all, I would like to let our community know about my experience as a covid patient. In early August I had a fever, I immediately understood that it was covid and unfortunately I also realized that it was not a light form.
A short time and I found myself at the Marsala hospital in need of treatment but above all of oxygen that my lungs were no longer producing enough. It goes without saying that a covid ward is not a vacation but rather a place of suffering and fear.
Eyes wide open towards the emptiness of those who arrive and do not know what their destiny will be. People of all ages, even teenagers, united by the same desire, BREATHE. Yes, because covid takes your breath away in the true sense of the word.
Thank God after 16 days of hospitalization and treatment by doctors and nurses whom I would call “angels” I realized I had made it. But know that it is not a fortune that happens to everyone. Now in my mind a little more serene I ask myself: “and if I had had the vaccine?”
I am not the only one to ask, together with me all 34 covid patients on the third floor have asked, because in addition to the fear we shared the fact that none of all were vaccinated.
Well, I greet you with a recommendation: “vaccinate yourselves, avoid the experience of oxygen therapy and eyes wide open in the direction of emptiness.
Health is a precious commodity “.
