THE FAMILY GROWS – After the marketing of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Korean house gives an idea of what the next models in its range of electric cars will be. This is the sedan Ioniq 6, which is expected to arrive in 2022, and the large SUV Ioniq 7, for which we will have to wait until 2024. Both will be based on Hyundai’s versatile E-GMP platform, specific for battery cars.
BEWARE OF THE TWO – The first to arrive, therefore, should be there Hyundai Ioniq 6 which, as we learn from the image released by the manufacturer, will be inspired by the concept Prophecy (photo above) so it will have a sedan body, but low and dynamic like that of a coupe. There Ioniq 7 (below), on the other hand, will be an SUV with impressive dimensions, but still slender with an important aerodynamic study to reduce air friction. In fact, there is a large windshield with a high angle of inclination, a streamlined and tapered line that then continues up to the roof.
NIENTE FAMILY FEELING – As can be seen from the teaser image, Hyundai has decided not to give the cars of the Ioniq range a “family feeling”, preferring to give each model a unique style, without elements in common with the others, as is often the case for other manufacturers. A very specific choice, as the creative director of Hyundai Motor Group, Luc Donckerwolke, explained to us in our interview in 2020 (who read more): “Hyundai is not a brand with a rigidly defined image and design that it forces its cars to respond only to certain aesthetic standards. We think that the concept of family feeling, that is, that all the models of a brand must resemble each other, is outdated “.
