“I knew I would find her at home“. These are the only words that Emanuele Impellizzeri he told investigators after he was stopped in the night as he tried to get away. The 38-year-old originally from Catania, released from prison only last June, he was stopped by the Polstrada along the Autostrada del Sole – near Florence Impruneta – on charges of having killed Chiara Ugolini, 27, in the apartment the girl shared with her partner a Calmasino di Bardolino, in the province of Verona.
The victim was found lying on the floor by her boyfriend with a deep head injury: she may have been the victim of a violent struggle when she fell to the ground, but it will be the autopsy to establish the causes of death. What prompted Impellizzeri – pluri-prejudiced already convicted for robbery, crimes against property e resistance to public officials – to hit her still is not clear to the police. The only sure thing is that Chiara was alone at home at the time of the crime: she had returned from work at 14 and precisely her failure to return to service in the afternoon had triggered the concerns of her companion.
In those hours, as confirmed by Impellizzeri himself, the man entered the apartment by climbing from the lower floor, climbing on a terrace. The man, locked up in the Florentine prison of Sollicciano after being stopped on the motorway near the Tuscan capital while he was fleeing by motorcycle, would have limited himself to saying that he had pushed the girl. When it was stopped, as well as being dirty with blood, Impellizzeri presented scratches to the face, evident signs of a struggle. Ugolini therefore would have defended himself, for this reason among the motives of the crime the investigators do not exclude the hypothesis of a sexual attack that the 38-year-old would have carried out when he found himself in front of the girl, who reacted by trying to defend herself.
Another hypothesis leads togirl meddling in a lite which would have involved the 38-year-old, who was in probation foster care, on the ground floor of the young woman’s home. According to this thesis, Chiara, a few days earlier, would have intervened in a discussion between Impellizzeri and his partner, during which the man would have sworn to make him pay. A detail that has not yet been openly confirmed by man, despite having already done partials admissions on what happened.
Impellizzeri in his Facebook profile was depicted with the effigy of Duce. The same companion is unable to understand what has happened and has limited herself to saying to journalists that she no longer considers him her husband: “From today that is no longer my man”. The 38-year-old, father of a family and motor enthusiast, is disputedaggravated voluntary homicide. According to the investigators after the murder he acted with cold clarity: he has picked up 200 euros and is given to the leak in the night along the highway.
Chiara is described by all as a sunny girl, a lover of travel, who after graduating from Padua had chosen to work in one of the clothing stores of his partner’s father. “A positive and always smiling young woman” underline her friends, recalling her commitment as coach of the Palazzolo children’s volleyball team. Originally from Fumane, she had moved to Calmasino di Bardolino to work in a restaurant belonging to her boyfriend’s father.
