Giving color to a blind facade of a building and cleaning (as much as possible) the air of Milan by “eating” the smog. These are the two objectives of the mural that will be created in the Dergano district. The work, promoted by Liquigas, will be painted from 28 to 30 September on the occasion of the Preparatory Conference on Climate and Youth4Climate, an event in favor of the climate entirely dedicated to young people to be held in Milan at the end of September.
The mural will overlook the Cesare Pagani play area and will be created by Alessandro Shortglieri, a street artist who composed the portrait of a parrot, interspersing it with a gas mask. “Nature symbolically meets the pollution generated by man, creating a new and dystopian image – reads the presentation of the design -. The work invites reflection so that the observer becomes aware of the ‘threat to the beauty of the future’. A message that becomes a real call to action to improve air quality, summarized in the phrase ‘This future takes our breath away’ and aimed at stimulating individual and collective action to preserve the environment “.
The mural will be painted with Solarya 65, a self-cleaning and anti-pollution siloxane coating for exteriors. The paints, based on photocatalytic nanotitanium with low dirt retention characteristics and with self-cleaning properties, will purify the air with which they come into contact, transforming up to 65% of the harmful gases present into substances with low or no polluting impact, preserving in the time the colors in their original vividness.
