According to a rumor circulating in the last few hours, Microsoft would be in the process of closing the publisher’s purchase Take-Two, the one that publishes, among others, the GTA series by Rockstar Games. The indiscretion speaks of a larger company interested and immediately points the finger at the Redmond house, the only one in the video game world to be able to afford a similar deal. In reality it is very likely that it is all false, as also reported by Jez Corden of Windows Central, who spoke about it in a podcast expressing more than a few doubts about the whole thing.
Of course, there are contacts between Microsoft and Take-Two (the second publishes games on the platforms of the first, somehow they will certainly talk) and maybe there has also been some flattery, but we are still talking about a huge deal, considering that the value of Take -Two on the market is just under twenty billion dollars and that, therefore, for a complete acquisition Microsoft would have to spend a lot more. We are talking about important figures also for the Windows giant, which just recently spent 7.5 billion dollars to take Bethesda home. Besides, Take-Two is in excellent health, so why sell?
Of course, the idea of an acquisition of the GTA brand would be suggestive, which would probably make Xbox win the console war (we always speak by hypothesis), dealing a lethal blow to all competitors. However, let’s consider it only a suggestion of the end of summer and look forward.
