The Delta variant of Covid-19 is as contagious as chickenpox, it probably has more severe effects than the variants that preceded it, and infected people seem to pass it on regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not. This is what an official US document indicates, the content of which was unveiled by the Washington Post.
These results, the fruit of scientific studies, are present in a dossier of the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the main health agency in the United States. “The war has changed,” the documents read. In particular, the study is based on an analysis conducted in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where nearly 900 cases of Covid were detected after the July 4th national holiday, despite three-quarters of the participants being vaccinated.
According to the CDC document, there was “no difference” in the viral load of vaccinated or unvaccinated people and this seems to indicate the same degree of contagiousness regardless of vaccination status. According to local news site Masslive.com, there have been few hospitalizations (seven to date) and no deaths related to this outbreak. (Adnkronos).
