Some forms of neoplasia may manifest with symptoms that include skin manifestations such as itching or redness in particular areas. This is the case with some forms of lymphoma, that is, a cancer that attacks the lymphatic system and has specific forms. Itchy skin could be the sign of a tumor in these organs of the lymphatic system. To exclude other inflammatory skin diseases it is always useful to make an accurate diagnosis and check for other specific symptoms.
What is Hodgkin’s lymphoma and how is it recognized
When we talk about lymphoma, we describe a type of cancer that attacks the body’s lymphatic system. These neoplasms are mainly divided into two broad categories: Hodgkin’s lymphomas and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. The latter have a higher incidence in the population diagnosed with this form of cancer. In Hodgkin’s lymphoma, cancer cells originate in the lymph nodes and can spread to other areas through the lymphatic vessels. This relatively rare tumor can occur at any time during a lifetime. However, a more marked incidence occurs at a young age, ie in people between 20 and 30 years, or in subjects over 60. Furthermore, there are more cases in males than in females.
