It opens this weekend in the Visconti halls of Sforzesco Castle (until 24 October, 10-19.30, 10 euros, booking recommended, milanocastello.it) the exhibition “The Body and the Soul, from Donatello to Michelangelo”. Created in collaboration with the Louvre Museum and dedicated to Italian Renaissance sculpture (around 1460-1520), it is made up of 120 works from museums around the world. Always at the Castle (Sala del Tesoro, Cortile della Rocchetta, until Sunday, free admission, without reservation), last days of the exhibition-tribute to Carlo Porta on the bicentenary of his death (1821-2021): books, memorabilia and documents of the greatest poet of the Milanese dialect tradition.
It has just been inaugurated at Museum of the twentieth century the retrospective “Mario Sironi. Synthesis and grandeur “ (Palazzo dell’Arengario, piazza Duomo 8, until 27 March 2022, 10-19.30, 10 euros, museodelnovecento.org), dedicated to the master sixty years after his death. The 110 works on display reconstruct the entire journey of one of the greatest Italian artists of the twentieth century, from the symbolist to the futurist and metaphysical seasons, the years of expressionism, the second post-war period, up to the “Apocalypse” painted shortly before his death.
The photographic exhibition hosted by Sozzani Foundation (Corso Como 10, until 29 August, 10.30 am – 7.30 pm, 6 euros, fondazionesozzani.org) “The long sandy road: photos of an Italy on vacation in the Sixties”: images taken between 1956-1962 that immortalize moments of the Italian holidays in the boom years.
Saturday the archaeological Museum (piazza Sant’Ambrogio 15, 4.30 pm, 8 + 2 euros, compulsory booking, tel. 02-20404175) organize a guided tour of the treasures of the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio: the mosaics of the chapel of San Vittore in Ciel d’oro, the sarcophagus of General Stilicone, the golden altar of Vuolvinio.
Starting this Saturday the Museum of Science and Technology (via San Vittore 21, until 28 August, 11.30 am, 5 euros, compulsory booking, museoscienza.org) opens to the public on guided tours for their own few people at a time “Studio Collections” hitherto kept “secret”. It is a major project, still in progress, of reorganizing its endless deposits made up of thousands of objects never made accessible before. A unique opportunity.
After a period of closure for repairs to the air conditioning system, it can be visited again from this weekend on natural History Museum (Corso Venezia 55, 10 am-5.30pm, euro, 5 euro, booking recommended, museodistorianaturalemilano.it). Much appreciated for its collection of dinosaurs, just in these days, in front of the entrance, the life-size model of a Saltriovenator was inaugurated, the first and at the moment the only dinosaur whose fossil, dating back to 200 million years ago has been found. in Lombardy, in Saltrio (Varese).
Saturday evening at Sforzesco Castle of Vigevano (tickets available on Ticketone and Friendsandpartners) the Live 2021 tour of Giusy Ferreri. On stage together with the singer-songwriter from Salento there will be a live band, composed by Andrea Polidori (drums), Will Medini (piano and synth), Fabrizio Bicio Leo (guitars), Gabriele Cannarozzo (bass and moog) and Mattia Boschi (cello and guitar ).
Saturday at Spirit de Milan (via Bovisasca 59, pre-sale tickets for 20 euros on oooh.events, info: 366-7215569) evening is entirely dedicated to jazz manouche and the music of Django Reinhardt: at 6 pm the Mr. Ripley Band will play, while at 10 pm the Monday Orchestra directed by Luca Missiti, one of the best known and most prestigious big bands in Italy, will go on stage, together with Dario Napoli, one of the most active jazz guitarist manouche on the scene national and international.
Saturday and Sunday big party “Peru in Milan” to celebrate the 200 years of independence of this Latin American country: on the AC Macallesi sports field (via MF Quintiliano 46, from 12 noon, free admission, tel. 327-7022550) 11 Peruvian restaurants will offer gastronomic specialties, while dance performances and concerts will alternate on stage.
Appointment with the last title of “Incursions / Excursions” of the Small Theater: Sunday, 9.30 pm, at the former boarding school of the Trotter park, Davide Enia brings on stage “Madrigals of revolt” (free admission, reservations required, piccoloteatro.org), a sung operina and musical dialogue between Enia and Giulio Barocchieri, reflections on life and death, you fear that the pandemic has upset. As Enia says, “Songs and cunti steeped in anger and despair” (then to follow in the following days: Mon. at Mare cultural urban in via Gobetti, Tuesday at Casa Chiaravalle in via Sant’Arialdo 69, Wednesday at Cassina Anna in via Sant ‘Arnaldo 17).
Saturday for “Summer Vapor” (via Procaccini 4, Spazio Fattoria, 8.30 pm, 5 euros, vaporedistrict.org), the Atacama Company presents “The dance of reality”, a show that is part of Jodorowsky’s “Mystical Cabaret”, in which cultures and philosophical traditions such as Sufi, Buddhism, Koan, Haiku, Zen, Tibetan are retraced with brief stories.
Sunday at Amateur Dramatic Theater (Piazza Ferrari 6, 7 pm, free admission, reservations required, tel. 02-86460849) goes on stage “Second to none. Reflections on the second generation ”, that is, the Italians with different (but not so much) skin color. This is the scenic reading of the texts written by the participants in the theater dramaturgy workshop 2020.
Per Menotti in Sormani “Cara Marie Curie” by and with Gabriella Greison (Saturday, 7.30 pm) and “Le Rotaie della memoria” (Sunday, 7.30 pm), the story of a resistant to fascism in the Ticino Valley, are staged.
Sunday evening Sforza summer is “Zelig Show” (9.30 pm, 21.50 euros, online only, milanocastello.it): on stage Davide Paniate as conductor, Raul Cremona, Antonio Ornano, Ippolita Baldini, Max Angioni, Vincenzo Albano.
Saturday and Sunday on the stage of Cooperative Theater (7.45 pm, 18 euro) Giuseppe Provinzano remembers the infamous Genoese “GiOtto”, whose 20 years are in recent days.
A new review is added to the programming of the Cineteca Meet (viale V. Veneto 2, until 2 September, 7.50 euros, cinetecamilano.it): is the retrospective homage to the Polish master Krzysztof Kieslowski 25 years after his death. All his films are on the program, including the legendary and revolutionary “Decalogue” made for TV.
20 years after the release of the first chapter, in the halls of the circuit UCI Cinema (Certosa, Bicocca and Assago-Milanofiori), the saga of “Lord of the Rings” by Peter Jackson based on the books of JRR Tolkien, in remastered 4K version: until July 26, “The Fellowship of the Ring”; from 27 to 30 “Le due Torri”; from 31 to 4 August “Il riorno del Re”.
On Sunday at 6 pm the Augusto Rancilio Foundation offers visitors a truly unique way to enjoy the enchantment of the garden of Villa Arconati FAR (via Fametta 1, Catellazzo di Bollate) in the light of the sunset. “The talking garden”: sounds, myths and tales of the garden of Villa Arconati FAR with texts and widespread voice by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory. A sensory walk in the sunset light, guided by sounds, music and words, rediscovered words, evoked by the sculptures that populate the garden of Villa Arconati FAR. At the end of the walk, Caffè Goldoni will offer all participants a tasty aperitif. Duration: about an hour, sensory walk + aperitif 15 euros per person. Taste Weekend at Villa Terzaghi a Robecco sul Naviglio (via San Giovanni Bosco 41, from 12 euros including tastings): tastings, piadina and puff pastry workshops, fish filleting, masterclass on wine and sustainable agriculture, live music from the Balera dell’Ortica.
Saturday night hunting for ghosts at Castello di Trezzo sull’Adda (via Valverde 33, at 20.30, 21 and 21.30, 12 euros, prolocotrezzo.com): Famous for its legends, apparitions and bloody stories, it hosts an evening dedicated to this world by a team of passionate researchers.
It is running until 2 September the Valtellina Festival Theater, from this year also extended to Val Chiavenna: theatrical and musical events in the valleys and refuges, art and history trails, involving 15 municipalities, from Tirano to Sondrio, to Bormio, to Madesimo. On the bill on Sunday: at Aprica Maddalena Crippa reading passages from Dante Alighieri’s “Inferno” (9 pm; reruns: Monday 26 in Tirano and Wednesday 27 in Teglio) and in Tirano Maurizio Donadoni in “Il dio di Roserio” (9 pm ). Out of the ordinary the proposal on Saturday of Varese festival Between Sacro and Sacro Monte (trasacroesacromonte.it): a “poetic trekking”, graft between a literary reading and a walk in the mountains. It is proposed by Franco Arminio who will guide the audience from the Sacro Monte to the Campo dei Fiori accompanying it with the verses of “Thus are the stars born” together with live music by Matteo Goglio (10 euros, booking recommended, departure at 8pm from Piazzale Pogliaghi in Santa Maria del Monte and arrival at Cima Tre Croci at Campo dei Fiori, duration about 45 minutes, uphill on a mountain path, sports clothing and hiking shoes recommended).
