Two elderly people aged 82 and 83, living in Milan, in the Lambrate area, were cheated by a woman who claimed to be their daughter. The scammer deceived herself into an envelope containing 50,000 euros in cash. The police officers are investigating the matter.
They have been scammed as, unfortunately, even more and more often. They trusted a person who pretended to be their daughter and was in need of help and only late did they realize that they had been duped by a scammer. Two elderly people aged 82 and 83, living in Milan, in the Lambrate area, handed an envelope containing fifty thousand euros to a woman who had contacted them on the phone shortly before.
Seniors cheated of 50,000 euros by the fake daughter
According to what was reported by Milanotoday, everything happened in the late morning yesterday, Thursday 22 July. A woman, not yet identified, called the 83-year-old man pretending to be her daughter. During the phone call, the scammer explained to the elderly man that she urgently needed money following a car accident. The woman then announced that a friend would go to pick them up. After attacking, the man consulted with his wife, deciding to give what he thought was his daughter all the money they had. A sum, in total, that was close to 50,000 euros in cash that the couple kept at home.
The Milan police investigate the matter
So, put in an envelope, they awaited the arrival of the alleged friend of the fake daughter who, once she arrived, withdrew her, quickly losing her tracks. After a few hours, however, the elderly realized they had been scammed, giving the alarm to the police. The policemen of the Milan Police Headquarters then went to their home to collect the testimonies and carry out the necessary investigations before hunting down the scammer.
