Three days of water polo at sea, as it once did, also thinking about charity. Recco is preparing to celebrate the sport for which it is famous all over the world and in the meantime it supports its own fellow citizen.

The Golfo Paradiso Recco beach waterpolo tournament scheduled from this evening, Friday 23, to Sunday 25 July, will be an opportunity to raise funds for Federica Monti, the 23-year-old girl who suffers from Lyme syndrome caused by a tick bite . Federica needs urgent and expensive care. Many have already moved for her. Now sport will do it too: “In our tradition there has always been the desire to organize events with charitable purposes – says Angelo Figari, president of Waterpolo Golfo Paradiso, a Master’s company that organizes the event with the collaboration of the Municipality and Pro Loco -. It will be a great sport party, with everyone’s desire to win, but also a healthy student spirit ».

Six teams will participate in the tournament, each one bearing the name of a business that supported the initiative. Beach water polo rules require each team to play with five players, one of whom must be a woman. The female presence will be foreign. In fact, Matilde Risso, from Recco who won the championship in Romania, with some companions of Dinamo Bucharest will take part in the tournament. Each team can field a maximum of one Serie A player.

Then space for Serie B, Master or non-registered players. Among the players in the top league there will be two goalkeepers who, however, will not play in goal: Tommy Negri of Pro Recco and Francesco Massaro of Savona (Matilde Risso will not play in goal either). Other players also on the field such as Dado Caliogna, Andrea Bonomo and Elena Maggi. The latter three, among other things, are also part of the organization. The water polo field in the sea has already been set up on Monday near the Antonio Ferro swimming pool in Punta Sant’Anna and immediately created enthusiasm and curiosity: “Many have already approached it, kids who may already play, others who are curious – Figari says again -. If this can be a way to promote water polo, so be it. Fun is guaranteed for everyone. Now we also count on the generosity of many to help Federica ». –
