There is almost mountain air in Milan. On Wednesday 7 April the Arpa control units recorded concentrations of fine dust well below the limits (set at 50 micrograms per cubic meter), the average of Pm10 calculated in the shadow of the Madonnina was 16.5 µg / m³ .
The presence of fine dust, however, is not uniform and varies according to the areas of the city: 10 in viale Marche, 20 in Città Studi, 17 µg / m³ in via Senato, 13 in Verziere. This, however, is the situation photographed outside the city: 18 µg / m³ were recorded in Limito di Pioltello, 16 in Cassano d’Adda, while in Turbigo the control units detected 21 micrograms per cubic meter, 17 in Magenta.
In April, a day with smog values above the threshold was recorded, 28 in 2021. European standards tolerate breaching the “wall” of 50 micrograms of PM10 only for 35 days a year.
For the moment there is no ‘anti-smog measure’ envisaged by the Lombardy Region Air Protocol: the first stop occurs after five days with concentrations of fine dust above the threshold.
