Armored Naples for the protest march organized against the G20 on the environmentand which is taking place these days in the Campania capital. About 2000 people took part in the procession that started from Piazza Dante activists, environmental and student collectives. There was no moment of tension except one launch of balloons filled with water at the address of the police, when the procession reached Piazza Bovio. Through a massive deployment of police, carabinieri and financial police, the demonstrators were kept far away from the Royal Palace, site of the summit of the ministers of the environment of the participating countries. “Doing the G20 on the Environment in Naples, Campania – say the protesters – we consider it a provocation given that it is among the regions of Europe where more people die from environmental disasters and other havoc, we wonder if the ministers of the EU countries have visited Terra dei Fuochi or the many other sites of national interest that are in this territory. This for us – they conclude – is just the umpteenth catwalk “.
