A story that has the surreal one that sees a young driver as the protagonist. The 28 year old Francesco Rizzo, arrested by the military of Oristano. The reason? The man who left Rome was supposed to throw drugs from the plane over the skies of Sardinia. Too bad, however, that he has the wrong home. The load – following the South American narcos technique – ended up in the wrong house. Perfect strangers have seen it rain 8.5 kilos of cocaine for a value of over 9 million euros. The package The package broke a solar panel in the house in Baratici San Pietro, Oristano, and the police investigations were immediately triggered.
The military thus tracked down the instructor Francesco Rizzo, with a clean record and with many hours of flight behind him. The young man had departed from the Roma Urbe airport and, after stopping at the Monti della Tolfa airfield in Santa Severa, had set off for Sardinia. Once arrived in the province of Oristano, it had disappeared from the radar for 20 minutes approximately during which the pilot flew at low altitude to locate the point of delivery.
The plane’s GPS also framed him, which confirmed that in those twenty minutes Rizzo flew over the offending area and then made a stopover in Olbia where he was immortalized by the airport’s cameras. For three months the carabinieri followed the movements of Francesco Rizzo currently engaged as a pilot for a Hungarian company as an air taxi for VIPs and wealthy people. It was only at the conclusion of the investigation that Rizzo was arrested, while the search for who may have supplied him with the drug load is still ongoing.
