Great interiority, romance and passion, this is the main element of Madama Butterfly ”. This is how Donato Renzetti talks about Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece that on Friday 16 July and in the four performances he will conduct at the Circus Maximus for the summer season of the Opera Theater of Rome with the direction of Alex Ollé, the soprano Corinne Winters and the tenor Saimir Pirgu. “I am very fond of Madama Butterfly – the master from Abruzzo, who has a brilliant career of almost half a century behind him with the most prestigious orchestras on the main Italian and international stages – tells ANSA. It is the first opera I saw as a child. and I was struck by Puccini. It is a work full of sentiment and I am so, very romantic and sensitive. ” Renzetti, 71, returns to the Rome Opera after “Tosca”, the other iconic Puccini title that has brought to the podium of the Costanzi in the 2015/2016 season.
