“Ladies and gentlemen welcome aboard”. Anzi no. Just get in! The latest initiative of the exasperated politically correct is the gift airline company Lufthansa and its subsidiaries. The German carrier, in fact, has decided to abolish the greeting to passengers “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome on board” because it is considered not neutral and not very inclusive of different gender identities. Lufthansa spokesperson Anja Stenger confirmed: “Diversity for us is not an empty phrase, from now on we want to express our attention to language”.
It is not clear when the service order will take effect, but from now on, hostesses and stewards will limit themselves to aseptic expressions such as “Welcome aboard” or “Dear customers” not only at the time of greeting, but also when their intervention is required and when meals are served. In addition to the national airline, the provision will also apply to Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels and Eurowings.
