Poste Italiane and Intesa Sanpaolo join forces and create the first pole for investments in the real economy. The agreement between the two groups will lead Poste, through its subsidiaries Poste Vita and BancoPosta Fondi Sgr, to the acquisition of 40% of the share capital of Eurizon Capital Real Asset Sgr (Ecra), a company specializing in investments to support the controlled real economy by Eurizon Capital Sgr. The group led by Matteo Del Fante will enter into the capital of Ecra through the subscription of a capital increase reserved at the end of it will hold 40%, (with 24.50% of the voting rights). Intesa Sanpaolo Vita will have 40% of the share capital (24.50% of the voting capital), while Eurizon will control 51% of the voting rights and 20% of the share capital, corresponding to 51% of the share capital with voting rights. The closing of the transaction is expected by the end of the year.
With the entry of Poste Italiane, Ecra will become the “main platform for this type of investment in Italy, capable of attracting resources also from other institutional investors and contributing to the relaunch of private investments in the economy”, reads a joint note. Poste Vita will entrust Ecra with a 2.5 billion euro investment mandate (bringing its assets to over 6.5 billion). accessing a global platform and developing an integrated management model throughout the investment life cycle. The assets under management will be fully attributable to Eurizon in whose balance sheet Ecra will remain 100% consolidated. For Poste Italiane, the agreement is consistent with the «24SI» strategic plan, which envisages the combination of commercial partnership and financial participation in innovative projects.
