IT’S TIME FOR RESTYLING – The Korean house renews the family of the Kia Ceed, the compact available with five-door body, station wagon and shooting brake. A restyling of substance that affects aesthetics and technological contents. It will go on sale by the end of 2021, with prices yet to be defined.
A MORE VISIBLE DESIGN – The major aesthetic innovations for the Kia Ceed are concentrated in front, almost completely unpublished. The grille, which the house calls “tiger noise”, now has a glossy black interior finish (varies according to the set-up), and a chrome plating that emphasizes its shape. The bumper is particularly spectacular, thanks to the two large air intakes at the bottom. The daytime running lights, which have three arrow-shaped modules surrounding the integrated LED fog light with high / low beam modules (also perform the function of direction indicators), are new. On the back, to highlight the Kia brand, the surface of the combined led lights has been smoothed. The glossy black diffuser is brand new, which also incorporates the satin chrome finish seen at the front. The GT Line and GT variants feature a headlight with 48 hexagonal elements, dynamic arrows and a burnished finish. The restyling brings with it new alloy wheels and five new body colors. The GT variants are also distinguished by specific red moldings.
INSIDE IT CHANGES A LITTLE – The interior of the Kia Ceed maintain the same setting. The seats are available in five types of upholstery, three of which are new; black suede bucket seats with contrast stitching in gray on the GT-Line and red on the GT models are included. Do not change the double displays for the instrumentation and multimedia system, respectively from 12.3 and 10.25 inches. Instead, it is a new wireless connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and compatibility with remote services via the smartphone, which allow you to keep track of the vehicle’s position, as well as monitoring other features.
THE ADAS – With the restyling the Kia Ceed it is also “full” of new ones driving assistance devices. These include the active blind spot alarm (in case of danger it acts on the steering), the attention assist, with control of the involuntary movement of the vehicle, the frontal collision warning, with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists , the lane maintenance assistant, which can now be activated independently of the adaptive cruise control (it can therefore also be offered on variants with manual gearbox).
AND ENGINES – The range of engines of the renewed Kia Ceed offers both the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and the mild-hybrid (MHEV) solution, with powers ranging from 120 hp to 204 hp. THE motori mild-hybrid with 48 V technology are the petrol 3-cylinder 1.0 with 120 (also LPG) and 4-cylinder 1.5 T-GDi mild hybrid, at its debut, which delivers 160 HP with a torque of 253 Nm, associated with the 7-speed DCT gearbox ( available for all body variants). The only diesel is the 1.6 CRDi, has 136 hp and is combined with the mild hybrid system (it is available for hatchback and station wagon versions). The sportier GT versions of Ceed and Proceed (i.e. the shooting brake), will instead be available with the 204 HP 1.6 T-GDi petrol combined with the 7-speed DCT gearbox. Version confirmed ibrida plug-in, only with station wagon bodywork, which combines the 1.6 GDI petrol engine with the electric motor located in the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, for a total of 141 HP. The electric unit is powered by the 8.9 kWh lithium battery that allows you to travel up to 60 km with “zero emissions”
