5 musical events not to be missed in Milan this summer, between the Blue Note, the Castello Sforzesco and the Triennale
In the summer of 1981 Vasco Rossi sang “I want to go to the beach”: a phrase that they repeat like a mantra, exactly thirty years later, the Milanese who remained in the city in these sultry days of July. Fortunately, with the relaxation of the restrictive measures the season of music festivals has finally started again in Italy, with various appointments scheduled throughout the boot.
However, it is not necessary to go as far as Salento or Sicily to listen to great music live after many streaming events. From the festival organized in the Milanese temple of jazz, the Blue Note, all’Summer at the Castello Sforzesco passing through the Triennial, here are five artists not to be missed – equipped with fans and Autan – waiting to leave for the long-awaited holidays.
- 14 July 20.45 – Palaces of the East @ Triennale Garden
The eighth date of Raheem Sessions in the splendid Giardino della Triennale is a live evening dedicated to experimental border electronics: the highlight of the event is the performance of Palaces of the East, the solo project of Luca, producer, composer and founder of the band 72-Hour Post Fight. To keep him good company Where, born in Turin and one of the leading artists of Hyperdub, as well as Furtherset, artist between experimental sounds and synthwave atmospheres.

The Blue Note in Milan, opened this year exceptionally also in the summer months, launched the first edition of Blue Note Summer Festival: rich selection of great Italian and international artists and talented new proposals, from Roberta Gentile a John Patitucci Trio. The fantastic performance was scheduled for Thursday 15 Andrea Motis, date unfortunately canceled. Do not worry: on the stage of the Blue Note there will be an authentic legend like Dee Dee Bridgewater, custodian of the tradition of the great female voices of jazz and awarded three times with the Grammy Award.
- 17 Luglio 18,30 Margherita Vicario @ Play : Fair For People and Planet
The SDG Action Campaign of the United Nations, will present the inaugural edition of Play:Fair For People a Milano. E Keychange, the international campaign fighting for gender equality in the music industry all over the world, it is present with three ambassadors: in addition to Margaret Vicar, in fact, they will also perform as part of this special event Populous ed Epoque. 120 lucky ones will be able to attend the live performance. The last appointment of the traveling exhibition I MISS YOU, spin-off del festival indie milanese MI AMI, stops in a spectacular location for an equally spectacular artist: al Sforzesco Castle – which hosts over eighty live events in the Cortile delle Armi from 11 June to 7 September – our beloved Venerus will perform live for the first time in Milan, his city, with his debut album, Magical Music.
- 30 July 20.30 – Ron Gallo @ Ride
The eclectic Ron Gallo returns to Milan full band, after the publication of his third album Peacemeal and the performances at Loolapalooza, al Coachella and in many other of the best festivals in the world, including the Beaches Brew in Marina di Ravenna, where Ron will perform the previous day. To welcome him properly in Milan, the Ride, the cultural hub of via Valenza which hosts art, cinema, theater and live music in its spaces.
