Florence, July 9, 2021 – Una closing at night sudden of the highway between Calenzano and Barberino. A closure for urgent and non-postponable works that threw the Florentine branch of the motorway into chaos. This caused the huge traffic jam that commuters faced on the morning of Friday 9 July.

The reopening of the stretch, which in the late evening on Thursday 8 it was closed in both directions, it went slowly and the traffic suffered the consequences. Many motorists were not informed and did not immediately understand the gravity of the situation, despite the information circulating on the highway panels.

The closure, announced around 11pm, it went on until seven in the morning: too late for traffic not to suffer. The most serious situation, with over 15 km of queue, occurred on the north carriageway, towards Bologna. Here the queue did not flow, heavy traffic and commuters had to wait patiently. The north carriageway was the slowest to reopen, and this created further problems. Road users were furious.
