How long will the Covid-19 pandemic last around the world? Experts are trying to find an answer to this question on the basis of some data published on the websites of the journal Nature and Our World in data (international database on anti Covid vaccination).
According to these data, as reported by ‘SkyTg24’, only in 2023 the whole world will be vaccinated against Covid-19.
At the time they were administered 3.23 billion doses globally, of which, however, only the1% to the inhabitants of the poorest countries.
By maintaining this pace of vaccination, 6 billion doses are expected by the end of 2021.
According to experts, this figure is too low: to vaccinate about 70% of the world population with two doses, in fact, 11 billion doses would be needed.
Until now, 24.4% of the world population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Covid pandemic duration: the expert’s forecast
Last month, G7 leaders pledged to donate extra doses to poorer countries by the end of 2022.
According to the Duke University researcher, Andrea TaylorHowever, it is unlikely that more vaccines will reach poor countries faster with these commitments.
According to the expert, the export constraints of the United States of America and the European Union will slow down its arrival.
According to estimates by Andrea Taylor, the world population will be fully vaccinated only in 2023.
The roadmap of the Covax program, which aims to vaccinate 1/5 of the population of each participating country by delivering 2 billion doses by the end of 2021, has also slowed heavily.
They have been bought 2.4 billion doses, but as of July 2, only some had been sent 95 million.
