With funding from the ministry of culture, a digital archive full of information will be created with about 15,000 pieces including posters, periodicals and documents relating to the history of Italian political parties. The general directorate of the archives of the ministry has in fact allocated over 60 thousand euros to the project for the recovery and digitization of part of the archival heritage of the Center for political movements and parties of the University of Macerata. The goal is to enhance and make available to the academic community and the public part of the Centre’s rich archival heritage, posters and periodicals. “Through technologies, the University makes its skills available to allow access to documents that represent a defense of national historical memory”, commented the rector Francesco Adornato. The material was chosen on the basis of the scientific value and the state of conservation by the director of the Center Angelo Ventrone, professor of contemporary history. “In the past – recalls the professor – we had digitized part of this material. Now the documents will be transferred into an innovative archive, capable of communicating with other systems”. “The platform we will use – explains the delegate of the rector to the library system Elisabetta Michetti – is an open source managed by an international community that allows you to acquire, store and distribute any digital object: text, images, audio, video”.
