Snatched while walking in the street with his wife, he chased the thief and had him arrested. It happens in the Esquiline where the carabinieri intervened in via Cairoli, on the recommendation of the Group’s Operations Center in Rome, where they identified the victim, a 33-year-old Indian citizen. The man reported that, a few minutes earlier, while he was walking with his wife along the road, he was approached by a man who tore the gold necklace from his neck and fled on foot.

The victim, together with two passers-by, who noticed the scene, chased the criminal and managed to block him at the corner with Via Principe Umberto. Upon arrival of the Carabinieri, the mugger spontaneously handed the necklace to the victim, but resisted arrest, trying to struggle in order to escape. The man, identified as a 25-year-old Egyptian citizen, already subjected to the ban on staying in the municipality of Rome, was arrested and taken to the barracks, where he was detained pending the direct rite for the crimes of theft with tearing and resistance a Public Official.

The arrest as part of a territorial control service by the Carabinieri of the Rome Group aimed at containing and dissolving any gatherings to deal with the epidemiological emergency and verify compliance with the regulations for the containment of episodes of “bad nightlife” .

Check in San Lorenzo and Esquilino

The activities were concentrated in the “San Lorenzo” district where a commercial establishment near via degli Aurunci was sanctioned. The military ascertained that the owner of the bar continued the takeaway sale of alcoholic beverages beyond the time allowed by the order issued by the Municipality of Rome. At the end of the check, the Carabinieri also triggered the accessory sanction of closing the bar for 5 days.

A little later, 3 young people who were surprised to consume and transport drinks inside glass bottles after 10 pm ended up in the network of the Carabinieri. For the 3 offenders, penalties for a total of 480 euros were applied.

At the Esquilino, the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Compagnia Roma Piazza Dante arrested a 25-year-old Egyptian citizen, already subjected to the ban on staying in the municipality of Rome, for the crimes of theft with tearing and resisting a Public Official.
