In Milan, Easter eggs for the poor are emptied at night

AGI – The twenty-four wooden Easter eggs, hung on the edges of the skating rink and decorated by the artists, are filled with food during the day and emptied at night when those in need, modestly, go to ‘unwrap’ them protected from the darkness. They are the Milan that is struggling also due to the consequences of the economic crisis triggered by Covid and has gratefully welcomed the initiative of the social street in via Benedetto Marcello.

Help for those in need

“We thought of the homeless at the beginning but in reality there are many families who need help to make it to the end of the month – explains Serena Luglio, representative of the neighborhood social street to AGI. Those who want to contribute put food in the eggs that have a fabric pocket, and then, given the success that the initiative is having, we launched a collection to raise money through an account whose details are on our Facebook page and do the shopping of basic necessities, such as baby food, diapers, powdered milk, pasta “.

Support from the Municipality

Eggs are beautiful and are very popular with children, who like to leave greeting cards or messages. “We were helped by the scenographers of the Elfo theater who, after the closure of Covid, were converted into installations away from the stage and are part of the ‘Lupo ArtieMestieri’ group, the ‘Botteghe Mercati’ association, the Corrado Tessuti company, all with the support of a contribution from the Municipality which has decided to extend the initiative until next Sunday, given the success ”.
