For the assault and sexual violence of 20 January 2006 against a woman, the Algerian Ibrahim Jalel, now 49, was sentenced to thirteen years and four months in abbreviated form. Fifteen years (minus one month) of waiting. But the sentence finally came, after the DNA – found on the woman’s body and on the cigarettes smoked after the rape – nailed the Maghreb – arrested a year ago – to that sexual violence.
