VITERBO – “We learn without too much surprise, from the words of the regional councilor Mauro Alessandri, the postponement to August 1 of the completion of the preliminary activities for the takeover of Cotral SpA and Astral SpA in the management of the Roma Nord Railway with extension of the contract to Atac until December 31, and consequently the postponement to January of the redevelopment works (if we can define it that way) of the section, as stated on the Twitter profile of the President of the Region Nicola Zingaretti – Federico Porri Head of the Transport Department of the Brothers of Italy Viterbo -.

According to what was declared, the postponement would be due to the delay in the transmission of documents by Atac, of which the Court of Auditors recently analyzed the financial statements of 2016 and 2017, denouncing critical issues in the expenditure for professional assignments.

The arrangement with creditors continuously inflates the costs for consultancy and professional services
which rose by one million and 600 thousand euros, going from 4.7 million in 2016 to 6.3 million the following year. The independent professional’s report alone necessary for the procedure launched in September 2017 cost just over € 665 thousand.

But the worst is that, according to the Court, the procedures for the assignment of offices do not always follow the lines indicated by the internal regulations. To aggravate the situation even more is the Report on the management of shareholdings of the Municipality of Rome, published by the regional control section for Lazio of the Court of Auditors which highlights “the need to reorganize this control in a perspective of greater efficiency” .

In particular, the cost of maintenance “was particularly high, as well as constantly growing, also due to the exceptional age of the underground, tramway, trolleybus and railway networks ‘ex concesse’, managed by Atac.

We therefore ask ourselves how we can still grant an extension of the contract with the Capitoline investee company in the face of these considerations advanced by the Court of Auditors, and the continuous inefficiencies that fall daily on commuters who will face the ordeal of the resumption of school and work activities in the months autumn with the infernal scenario of last year which is expected to get worse and worse ”.
